My daughter’s confidence is growing. She is shifting back to that little girl of smiles and laughter. She is reading above grade level and has gone from a C- student to bringing home a fourth grade report card with two As and three Bs.

Words cannot adequately express how much we appreciate the help you are providing [my son]. He scored a 73% on his semester exam in ELA class. Earlier in the year he was scoring 58% on his reading assessment.

My student Jordan has made extreme progress this year. At the beginning of the year, he was reading at Level 6. At the end of the year, he is now reading at Level 28! This is due to the help of Katrina and his classroom activities. Jordan's reading, writing, and spelling are all up to grade level.

After years of tears and pain over my struggle to read, I finally learned, in fourth grade, I had dyslexia. I'm now in eighth grade and more than proud to share I am just weeks away from completing Level 10 of the Barton System. Not only can I now read, but I know Latin!

We learned our son had dyslexia after years of tutoring that just wasn't working. Katrina's special skill set has truly helped him in a very short time. She's knowledgeable in an area that is unfamiliar to most. She is patient and kind, and she teaches our son in a way his brain understands. We are so grateful to have found Katrina! She's given our son the confidence he needs to learn to read and be successful. I would recommend Katrina to any parent in our shoes!

My son is a Sophomore and attending UNLV. He reads crazy big history books and is a history major thanks to Katrina! She really changed all our lives!

Being recommended to The Reading Place was pure destiny and I am so grateful. Katrina is so kind and super knowledgeable, and helped answer some questions I had about dyslexia. She explained our daughter needed to start reading all over again from the basics. Our daughter was in the 5th grade when we started the Barton reading program through The Reading Place. Not a day goes by that I don’t have profound gratitude for everything Miss Katrina and The Reading Place did for my daughter. My daughter, besides being dyslexic, also has two other learning disabilities, ADHD, and is on the Spectrum. She has a lot going against her, but Miss Katrina has more. Part of her journey included consistent, repetitive learning that needed to be more (and longer) than most. But, as her parents, we were committed to her learning to read, as we knew if she could read, her quality of life would be so much greater. In high school and still in the SLD program, she started being placed in general education classes for English. She is graduating with an actual diploma, and not a certificate of completion, which would not be possible if we had not placed her in The Reading Place. She has a future that will include independence. She will be able to enter the workforce. She reads for pleasure. Her entire world has grown so much bigger because she can read and Miss Katrina worked so hard to make that happen. Spending the time and money for our daughter to learn to read is an investment that will last her an entire lifetime. If your child is struggling, do not wait for the school system to help. They are not equipped, nor do they have the time. I had wonderful IEP Teams, and yet they were unable to provide specific teaching for her dyslexia. They made accommodations, but those did not include dyslexia training. Honestly, this will be the best return on investment we have ever received. I remember a time before tutoring when Kimberly’s Resource Teacher was out, and there was no substitute, and she had to spend the entire day in her classroom. Even though she was only about 9 years old at the time, it was moments like these where she felt the difference between herself and the readers in the classroom. She would come home stressed and agitated, and it was heartbreaking. I’m so glad that we committed to a different outcome for her, and that we found it while she was still in elementary school. I believe in early intervention, and I believe in being proactive. We did both and the only regret is that we did not start this the moment we got the diagnosis. Thank you, Katrina, for giving our daughter the entire world.
